Forgive the sloppy wording of the title, but you get the idea. Basically, what's most essential to you. What turns a good team into a great team.
If OTHER please give reasons.
...actually give reasons anyway. And opinions.
You're allowed 3 votes. Votes can be changed.
If you can't decide on what would make a cup contending team, just vote on what you would want from your team personally.

Reasons for my votes: Work Ethic: Scotty Bowman once said that players will always find a way to get out of something, to cheat a little bit and not give it their all, he called this a player's 'crutches' because if they're not going to give it all they've got, they might as well be holding crutches. He believed that this was the main ingredient to a teams' success. Scotty's track-record speaks for itself.
Chemistry: Examples - San Jose's, Washington's, Buffalo's and Chicago's top six. A few years back Buffalo was a sure stanley-cup contender but only made the playoffs twice I believe. During this time and one year afterwards they made absolutely no changes to their roster because not only did it not need fixing (at the time), but the coaches also wanted to just help build the chemistry with themelves. Unfortunately the following years they did not do so well up until recently. (I love Buffalo, there I said it.) Another Example to prove my point: New Jersey's top six. Great players, all of them, but they just can't score. I would attribute this to lack of chemistry, but I could be wrong.
Defense: Defense wins championships. It was either this or Goaltending, but teams have won cups with poor goaltending and great defense. There needs to be a mix obviously. And obviously between all things listed there must be to some degree or another. My point is, Goalies can steal games, but not cups. This is coming from a goalie. Ex: Flyers last year (didn't win cup but could have if Leighton wasn't, well, Leighton), Detroit post-Hasek... i'm sure tehre are others but I can't remember at the moment. Hell, it could even be argued that Niemi just played over his head last year.
Arguably, these can all go under "Coaching." But I wanted to be descriptive.
